Coastal protection project begins on Fylde Coast

VBA have begun work to enhance the coastal protection along a section of Fylde’s coastline. This joint venture company is the main contractor for the project, specialising in designing and constructing sustainable flood and coastal defence in the UK.

The project will involve replacing the current concrete defences in the area, which are in poor condition. The aim is to reduce the flood and erosion risks to those in the local area, and provide security for the homes, schools and infrastructure in the area.

The initial stage of the project has already begun, with sheet piles beginning to be installed along the two mile stretch of coastline where the work is being done. The whole project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2020.

The project is being funded by the Environment Agency and is one of a number of coastal projects taking place throughout the UK to enhance coastal protection around the British Coastline.
